Background Information

The current information revolution in business creates many new opportunities in global electronic marketing and advertising. Nevertheless, there seems to be many challenges and pitfalls with potential harmful consequences for society, markets, buyers and sellers and customers. We can glimpse new and powerful electronic business models emerging globally. Because of the advent of vastly more efficient marketing and advertising modes, many scholars see great challenges ahead by the use of internet technology. However, few marketing scholars and business ethicists have addressed the ethical and social consequences of the new technologies.

Therefore, a special issue on Ethical Issues in Electronic Marketing and Advertising will be featured by the International Journal of Internet Marketing and Advertising with the aim to focus on ethical theory and research on new and previously ignored ethical themes and problems in electronic marketing. Such ethical themes include: computer ethics, ethics codes and legal regulation of marketing and advertising professions, ethical issues pertaining to relationships between business and individual customers, ethics in business-to business relations, ethics of public policy and legal regulation of electronic business, as well as general considerations of the theoretical and practical methods of addressing ethics in internet and computer technology.

Contributions are invited to address all aspects of business ethics of electronic marketing and advertising. This includes, but not limited to, the following thematic key-words for contributions:

Original contributions and thoughtful position and case study papers, from both research and industry, are welcome.
